Organization Information

Name : Texas State Be The Match on Campus
Description : For patients with life-threatening blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma or other life-threating diseases, a cure exists - a marrow transplant. Be The Match operates the largest and most diverse marrow registry in the world. Still, many patients can't find a match. The Texas State Be Match On Campus student organization has a shared purpose of addressing the critical disparity of available marrow donors that minority Leukemia patients face. Led the National Marrow Donor Program / Be The Match the organization works towards addressing total inclusivity of under-represented and minority groups to achieve an equal outcome for all.
Purpose : The essential goal is to substantially improve the odds in finding matching donors by educating all populations, wiping away myths and misunderstandings about the marrow donation processes. We address recruitment barriers: (1) by utilizing appropriate creative or youthful language, social media and other means to connect with students and the community; and (2) by conducting social activities and events presenting information about current medical technology and stem cell donation; (3) by working with Texas State Alumni who are marrow donors with a strong testimony regarding the impact they have had on saving a life.
