Organization Information
Name : You Can TooDescription : You Can Too is a volunteer program that enlists mentorship from accomplished undergraduate college students. The program calls for Black/Brown and Latinx college students to be paired as mentors to Black/Brown and Latinx middle school/high school students. As mentors, we provide mentees with academic support, college preparation, and opportunities to engage in meaningful discussions of Black and Brown history, politics, society, and current events.
Purpose : The You Can Too program is focused on uplifting minority youth who often face educational disparities that hinder success inside and outside of the classroom. Our mentors provide the support that young students require to exceed in their educational pursuits and ability to understand the workings of the world, as well as to encourage continued learning and self-knowledge outside of the classroom setting.
Membership Requirements : Mentors must be Black, Brown, or Latinx undergraduate students in good standing with Texas State.
