Name : Tau Beta Sigma (Band Service Sorority)
Description : Tau Beta Sigma is a co-educational national honorary band sorority dedicated to serving college and band programs. The Sisters of Tau Beta Sigma assists with distributing Bobcat Marching Band uniforms to all members, setting up the field during marching band rehearsal, setting up chairs and stands for large ensembles in the School of Music, working closely with the large band ensembles' directors, and helping pass out any uniform materials and food/snacks during all football games to the marching band. Other service events we are involved in are Bobcat Build, Sights and Sounds, several races such as Head for the Cure and Relay for Life, and participating in Tau Beta Sigma programs such as Scouting for Music, Crescendo, and Coda.
Purpose : Tau Beta Sigma's purposes are to promote the existence of college bands and develop an appreciation for band activities to the public, to honor outstanding band members by giving them the privilege of membership in the Sorority, to help develop leadership through participation in the band, to encourage a relationship between college bands and promoting reaching a goal through performing music and accomplishing projects, and to provide band members a wonderful and worthwhile social experience in collegiate band work.
Membership Requirements : Membership is open to students enrolled in Bobcat Band (fall) and/or another major musical organization, pay national dues, and go through an 8 week membership candidacy process program.
