Description : Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. was founded on the campus of Howard University on January 15th, 1908. It was the first Black sorority of its time, and since then, its influence has spread world wide. The Sigma Epsilon Chapter was charted here at Texas State University on April 30th, 2000 with the mission to uphold the purpose of AKA
Purpose : The purpose of the Sigma Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of service to all mankind.
