Name : Astronomy Club of Texas State University
Description : Fostering a greater appreciation and understanding of the night sky within the Texas State University community.
Purpose : Over the course of the year the club plans to host weekly rooftop telescope viewings (unless weather otherwise dictates). We will also astronomy-related lectures or presentations and work to make information on upcoming celestial phenomenon available via the clubs social media outlets and via an established email list (planets or meteor showers to be on the lookout for, etc). We desire to lead overnight and weekend trips to various less light polluted areas (state parks, etc.) so that we can see the full beauty of our celestial sphere. Our goal is to make the most of every opportunity to engage with other educational organizations and with the greater public to advance the local community's appreciation and understanding of the night sky.
